Yeşilyurt Family's Sixth School To Be Constructed In Tekkeköy

The protocol regarding the 'Vocational Technical Anatolian High School and Workshop' to be constructed in the Selyeri Neighborhood of Tekkeköy district was signed on Wednesday, 14.02.2018 at 11:00, at Yeşilyurt Demir Çelik AŞ premises in Tekkeköy district, between our Governor Osman Kaymak, Provincial Director of National Education Coşkun Esen and philanthropist businessman Cemal Yeşilyurt.

Yeşilyurt Group Honorary President Cemal Yeşilyurt said in his speech: “As Yeşilyurt family, we attach great importance to education. Especially after we started working with engineers after becoming an industrialist, we understood better how beneficial education is for the world, for the economy and in life. We started our education with my late father. In 1961, our state decided to build a school in each village. When it was our village's turn, our state said that the public will provide the land and the state will build the school. Of course, back then there were no roads. Everyone went everywhere on foot. For example, I walked to my primary and secondary school for 8 years, which was 5 kilometers away. Even during winters, we were staying overnight and were afraid. Under the conditions of that time, my father said to our state that he would provide the land so that the state could build a school. My late father conduced to building of the school. He was a philanthropist like us. We are following his footsteps.

As my father's generation, we attach great importance to education. This is our 6th school. The number of children studying in our schools is around 4000. National Education always comes to the fore in our social investments. Our mayor, Mr. Hasan Togar, also has exerted lots of effort to bring this school to our Tekkeköy district. I hope our children studying in these schools will grow up and serve their country and nation well. We name the schools we have built as Yeşilyurt Demir Çelik. The reason is this: We are a very large family, we do not use personal names. We will proceed with the name Yesilyurt Demir Çelik. As a family business, we are one of the longest living family companies in Turkey. We leave solid foundations to our grandchildren so that tomorrow they can continue to do as we have done. That's why we don't attach our name on works for which we did not pay 100%. Once again, I hope this school will be good for our city.”

Tekkeköy District Governor Günay Öztürk and Tekkeköy Mayor Hasan Togar also attended the protocol signing ceremony.
